Poland: 2013 a record year for Polish food exports

2014-02-24 20:11:22 12.02.2014 Minister of Agriculture Stanislaw Kalemba revealed on Wednesday that 2013 was a record year for Polish food exports, with sales reaching 19.9 billion euros. Citing data from Poland's Central Statistical Office (GUS) Kalemba noted that food exports accounted for 13.1 percent of Poland's entire exports in 2013. The biggest importer of Polish foodstuffs in 2013 was Germany, which favoured fruit juices, smoked fish, poultry and rape seed. In second place was the United Kingdom, followed by Russia and then the Czech Republic. In 2013, Russia mainly imported apples, cheese, tomatoes, frozen vegetables as well as pork, with overall food imports from Poland to the value of 1.2 billion euros. Compared with 2012, food exports rose by 11.5 percent, and Kalemba predicted that 2014 would see a further rise of 10 percent.
